Luella Gettys graduated from Bryn Mawr College and in 1925 received her Ph.D in political science from the University of Illinois, where she was a Carnegie Fellow in International Law. Her thesis, a copy of which is in the collection, was on The Effect of Changes of Sovereignty on Nationality .
